Video: iPad Session at Macworld 2010

Apple recently announced that the iPad will launch in the U.S. on April 3, 2010. With that announcement I thought it would be appropriate to highlight an interesting roundtable discussion that occurred during Macworld 2010. There’s been a lot of praise & complaints about the iPad, and I think this video highlights a lot of that. Beware, that there’s a signifigant amount of hyperbole used by a few of the participants, but there’s enough reasonable discussion to make this video worth watching.

Jason Snell, Dan Moren, Ted Landau, Ryan Block, and Andy Ihnatko discuss the iPad at Macworld 2010 in San Francisco.

2010 Oscar Predictions

Each year, it seems, everyone makes their Oscar predictions, and since tomorrow is the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, I might as well take a shot at movie fortune telling as well. Obviously there’s some categories that no normal person knows anything about, like Costume Design & Art Direction, so for those I just made an educated guess. For the bigger categories I wrote a little blurb about why I thought they were the winner, who might also be in contention, or who I think should win. This is the second year in a row that I’ve done this, and the first year I did horribly, I think I got 5 picks right. This year I probably won’t do any better, but it was fun giving it a shot. Take a look at the nominees & my picks below.

NHL Trade Deadline Preview

Only days after arguably one of the biggest day in the history of hockey, Canada winning Olympic gold on home soil in Vancouver, we’re only hours away from another big day for hockey fans. The NHL trade deadline is 3 PM EST on Wednesday, and that means fans will be glued to TV sets, laptops, and cellphones to get any information they can on who’s been traded and who’s staying put.

Prior to the two week Olympic trading freeze, we were already seeing increased activity, but since the freeze lifted on Monday teams are really starting to get in on the deals. Since March 1st we’ve seen nine deals made, which bodes well for a busy Wednesday. Teams like Ottawa & Chicago are picking up extra pieces in preparation for a playoff run, and Edmonton is beginning to dismantle one of the most disappointing teams in the league.

So what are we likely to see tomorrow? Read More »
