If you read my two Oscar posts from Sunday, you obviously know that I was fairly disappointed with the outcome. I kind of thought Slumdog Millionaire would win, so that wasn’t that much of a let down, even thought it didn’t deserve it. The shocker of the night, for me at least, was Sean Penn winning Best Actor. I fully expected Mickey Rourke to win, for his role in “The Wrestler”. Personally I think he was the more deserving out of the five nominated, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized Penn winning wasn’t that much of a downer. Penn’s performance in “Milk”, was great, and while you might think he acts a bit like he did in “I Am Sam”, I’d urge you to browse YouTube for some footage of the real Harvey Milk speaking, it’s spot on!
I still plan on posting my thoughts on the Top Films of the year, but there’s a few more I’d like to see before I do that. With that post, I will also probably touch on the Top 2-3 DVD’s I purchased last year. Enough about movies! What else am I planning on doing with this blog? Well I’m going to try and update it a bit more, maybe an odd personal story or something along those lines each week. There’s also been something bothering me for a while regarding the city council here in St. John’s, and I figured I might as well use Clearly Unclear to vent on that a bit. For my American friends who stop by every now and then, don’t worry, council members here don’t have political parties, so it’s not going to be a partisan rant.
Oh, this upcoming week is going to be pretty great! One of my really good friends, Walsh, is coming home after six months in the South Pacific AND later in the week my friend Gillian comes home and a bunch of us are going skiing with her!!! It should be a pretty fun and entertaining week!
