Three more movies added to the 2009 Watched list over on my movies page. As I mentioned before I won’t be ranking movies as I see them like with my music list, but I when I post these updates I’ll label them “See It” or “Skip It.” That way I can recommend any movies I enjoyed on a week to week basis, instead of having to wait till the end of the year. So for this update, it goes like this:
- Adventureland – This is directed by the guy that did Superbad, and it was being advertised as the same type of movie. It’s not, so don’t go into it thinking that’s what you’re getting. It’s more along the lines of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which was one of my favourite movies of 2008. See It!
- District 9 – Neill Blomkamp (director) & Peter Jackson (producer) were supposed to make a movie based on the video game Halo, that project fell apart. This is the movie they made instead, and after seeing it I’m glad we didn’t get a Halo movie. See It!
- State of Play – There’s no shortage of huge stars in this political thriller, but it centres around Russell Crowe & Ben Affleck. Based on a BBC mini-series, and the screenplay was written, in-part, by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton & The Bourne movies). See It!
